إن هناك ما يسمى: الخوف من الإسلام. فما هى أشكال هذا الخوف؟، وكيف نواجهه؟. لا شك أن الخوف هو خوف الغرب من الإسلام فى أعقاب أحداث الحادى عشر من سبتمبر. ويختلف الإسلام عن المسيحية واليهودية، فهو يمثل للغرب حجر عثرة أمام حضارته التى تأسست على ميراث الإغريق ثم اليهودية والمسيحية. يقول القس “فينشنسو باليا”: لا يمكن ولا يجب أن نخاف من الإسلام لأن البديل يعنى تدمير الإنسان تماماً.إنه لا ينبغى على الإطلاق محاربة دين بعينه أو تجنبه, مؤكداً أنه لا يصح نسب المشاعر والتصرفات التى يقوم بها المسلمون إلى الإسلام, فهى لا تعكس صورة الإسلام بقدر ما تعكس صورة المسلمين أنفسهم.
