أضحي فيروس أنفلونزا الخنازير شغل الناس الشاغل وذلك بعد أن أحدث حالات مرضية وتنافست وسائل الإعلام المختلفة على نشر أدق تفاصيله وأخباره لدرجة خيل للناس أن العالم مقدم على وباء سيحصد ارواح الملايين الحقيقة أن نسبة الشفاء قد يصل 94.9% . إن اتباع القواعد الصحية او النظافة البسيطة للغاية، واولها عندما يصاب شخص بالانفلونزا ينصح له بالراحة بالمنزل يومين او ثلاثة، ليقى نفسه من المضاعفات، وعلى المريض فى العمل او المنزل او مكان آخر يضع منديل على الفم والانف فى اثناء العطس ، وغسل الأيادى بالمياه والصابون وتلك تخفض احتمال نقل العدوى 50%، واذا أصيب المريض بأعراض حادة مثل الارتفاع الشديد فى درجة الحرارة، او أعراض عامة شديدة، او صعوبة فى التنفس، ان يلجأ للفحص الطبي، والفئات الاكثر عرضة للإصابات ينصح بتطعيمهم ومراعاة اللجوء للفحص الطبى فورا، والفئات تلك تشمل مرضى الامراض التنفسية المزمنة ومن بينها الحساسية وضيق الشعب الهوائية واورام الجهاز التنفسى والقلب والكلى والاورام او المرضى الذين يتناولون ادوية تقلل مناعة الجسم. وتبدو أعراض إنفلونزا الخنزير في البشر مماثلة لأعراض الأنفلونزا الموسمية من ارتفاع مفاجئ في درجة الحرارة وسعال وألم في العضلات، وإجهاد شديد ويبدو أن هذه السلالة الجديدة تسبب مزيدا من الإسهال والقيء أكثر من الإنفلونزا العادية ولكن نسبة الشفاء عالية 94.9% ولا تؤثر بالضرر إلا إذا كان المصاب يعاني أصلاً من أمراض مزمنة ملازمة له .
