تُعدُّ الصورة مظهراً من مظاهر الوجود؛ فبأيّ معنى يمكن أن تتحول إلى مناسبة لمقاربة خفائه؟ هل هذا هو مصدر قوتها ونفوذها؟...
في تاريخ الفكر الفلسفي بعقلانيّته الصورية، تم الإنقاص من قوّة الصورة لصالح المفهوم، وإختزالها في حقل الوهم والضلال؛ وهذا في عمقه تهميشٌ لقوّة الخيال الذي هو موضوع إهتمامٍ وإعترافٍ من طرف أهل العرفان، بدعوتهم للتفكير في ما وراء المظهر الظاهر؛ أي في ذلك المخفي والمستور والمطوي في كينونة كلّ كائن.
وفي فكر "الشيخ الأكبر"، هناك نفوذ للصورة، ونفاذ للعقل، بالإعلاء من شأنها، وإعطائها قوة على الوصل ما بين الضدين والمتنازعين، وما بين المتضاربين، وقوّتها بإشارتها إلى الخفاء المبطون في المظهر الظاهر: فأيّة صورة هي حاملة لهذا الإمتياز الوجودي؟...
إنّها صورة الكامل، الذي تحققت فيه آثار وأحكام الحقائق الإلهية بأسمائها، ونفوذ هذه الصورة هو بمرتبتها الجمعية الواصلة والفاصلة بين الضدين كما هي الألوهية جامعة بين الغيبي والكوني؛ أي بين المعاني الثبوتية (الحقائق والماهيات) ووجودها.
ولهذا، الربطُ بين الخفاء والتجلي ثيوصوفياً هو جمعٌ بين الثبات والتحول؛ فإذا كانت هذه الثنائية الضدية قد شكّلت موضوع خلاف في تاريخ الفلسفة بين "بارمينيدس" و"هيراقليطس"، فإنّ الأفق العرفاني لــ "ابن عربي" أوسع في إستيعاب أشكال الخلاف والتضاد، من أجل تحقيق الوحدة المأمولة.
إنّ المكانة الوجوديّة للصورة هي في قوتها على تتبع تحولات الوجود أو تقلباته اللانهائية، في علاقة بخفائه الثابت، وهذا هو معناها "البرزخي"، فسحةً لتمثّل الوجود على شاكلة "الثبوت على التلوين".
