تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تمهيد السبيل أمام راغبى دراسة القانون من خلال إلمامهم بالمصطلحات القانونية الأساسية، وتعريفهم التقسيمات القانونية المستخدمة فى دراسة القانون، ويتحقق ذلك بشرح المبادئ الأساسية والقواعد العامة التى تقوم عليها النظرية العامة للقانون، والتى تعتبر أساساً للدراسات القانونية التفصيلية التى تتناولها فروع القانون المختلفة ولا يعنى هذا البعد عن التطبيق العملى، وإنما سنتناول هذه النظريات بالقدر الذى يبين للدارس معناها وأثرها، ولن تكتمل الدراسة إلا بتخصيص دراسة مماثلة للنظرية العامة للحق، نظراً للصلة الوثيقة بين القانون والحق، ولذلك سيتم تقسيم الدراسة إلى كتابين، الكتاب الأول نخصصه لدراسة النظرية العامة للقانون، والكتاب الثانى نتناول فيه النظرية العامة للحق.
ولما كانت هذه الدراسة هى البداية فيما يدرسه طالب القانون فقد صيغت بأسلوب يتفق مع مبتدئ دراسة القانون حيث إن الكثير من المصطلحات والمترادفات القانونية تعد جديدة عليهم لم بألفوها فى دراستهم قبل الجامعية، وبناء على ذلك فقد حاولنا قدر المستطاع تبسيط المصطلحات القانونية المستخدمة، وتفصيل المجمل من القواعد، مع إعطاء الأمثلة العملية التى من شأنها أن تقرب الفكرة إلى ذهن القارئ، مهتديا فى ذلك بما سنه المشرع القطرى من تشريعات وقوانين.
وذلك من خلال التقسيم التالى:
الكتاب الأول ( النظرية العامة للقانون ) يحتوى على ثلاثة أبواب هى: (الباب الأول: تعريف القانون، الباب الثانى: مصادر القانون، الباب الثالث: تطبيق القانون وتفسيره).
والكتاب الثانى (نظرية الحق) ويحتوى على أربعة أبواب: (الباب الأول: التعريف بالحق وبيان أنواعه، الباب الثانى: أركان الحق، الباب الثالث: مصادر الحق، الباب الرابع: أستعمال الحق وحمايته).
