إن الذكر روحُ العبادات والأعمال، وسرُّ المقاماتِ والأحوال، وهو أخو الفكر وقرينه، بهما يقوى إيمان العبد ويقينه، ويثبت إسلامه ودينه، فالبذكر يحظى بشرف المجالسة وناهيك بمن كان الله جليسه وبلطف المؤانسة وحسبك من عبد أن يكون موالاه أنيسه، وبالفكر يلج أبواب المعارف، ويستثير أسرار العلوم اللَّطائف.
ولقد صنف العلماء في الأذكار النبويَّة كثيراً طيباً، واستجادوا منها غزيراً صيباً، وإنَّ من أعظمها نفعاً، وأجلها وقعاً، وأحسنها تأليفاً وجمعاً، ما جمعه منها الإمام "عبد الله بن علوي بن محمد الحداد العلوي الحسيني الحضرمي" من أذكار الصباح والمساء، وغيرها من أنواع الذكر والثناء، فقد انتفع بها الناس جمّاً غفيراً، وامتلأت أفئدتهم بها هدىً ونوراً، وقد نوه بها كثير من العارفين؛ كما قد اعتنى بشرحها، وتوثيق صرحها، جماعةُ من العلماء المحققين، وعملوا على تخريج أحاديثها وبيان فضائلها.
وقد ضم هذا الكتاب الورد اللطيف والورد الكبير، حزبي الفتح والنصر وغيرهما من الدعوات والصلوات النبوية، وضم المؤلف إلى ذلك قصيدتين غرَّاوين، قد اشتملنا على مناجاةٍ وإبتهالٍ، ودعاءٍ وسؤالٍ.
