إن مجد الحصان العدّاء مثل مجد لاعب كرة القدم. ففتى الأمس، المطارد للكرة في المنفسحات خلف الدور يُصبح فجأة لاعباً محبوباً في كل مكان، وموضع أحاديث العارفين وموضع إعجاب الجماهير. وكلما أوغل الزمان في الجريان، تعاظم مجده، ما دام يحرز الانتصارات ويكسب الهدف تلو الهدف. وبعد ذلك يخرج هو تدريجاً من الميدان ويُنسى تماماً. وأول من ينساه هم أولئك الذين كانوا أصخب الجميع إعجاباً به. ومحل لاعب الكرة الكبير يحلّ لاعب آخر. ومثل هذا طريق مجد الحصان العداء. إنه يشتهر ما دام لا يُقهر في المباريات. ولعل الفرق الوحيد هو أن لا أحد يحسد الحصان. فالخيول لا تعرف الحسد.
