"كمنزل من كلام، / حكاية من حجارة تدور / الهوينا، حول القلب / وتذوي كخيط من ظلّ، / كموسيقى ذهنية ، / صورت رمل يتقوض، / كعالم ينتهي / حين يبدأ عالم آخر، (...)".
هكذا يختار اسكندر حبش عنوان قصيدة "منزل من كلام" للشاعر الفرنسي ليونيل راي عنواناً لكتاب لايجمع ترجمات لقصائد تسعة لهذا الشاعر العملاق قدم له بمقدمة جاءت تحت عنوان "النشيد أولاً" اعتمد فيها – كما يقول – على حوار أجري مع الشاعر في مدينة دمشق حيث كان مشاركاً في ربيع الشعر الذي نظمه المركز الثقافي الفرنسي عام 2002. في هذه المقدمة يتحدث الشاعر الفرنسي ليونيل راي (مواليد العام 1935، وإسمه الحقيقي روبير لورو) عن ذكرياته والعوامل التي أثرت في نشأته الأدبية والشعراء الذين تأثر بهم "كنا في المدرسة، ندرس الكثير من القصائد، كقصائد فيرلين مثلاً، أو قصائد ذلك الشاعر البلجيكي" إميل فيرهارن" ، كنا ندرس أيضاً، بعض قصائد شعراء أقل أهمية، كذلك اكتشفت يومها الفرد دوموسيه، لافونتين، فيكتور هوغو. وهكذا يستمر راي في تذكر قراءاته "بالطبع قرأت السورياليين" وأبدى إعجابه بـ "أراغون": عرفته جيداً، عرفته في فترة تحولي". ما هذا التحول؟ يقول الشاعر مجيباً. كان لدي الإنطباع بأنني أقوم بعمل شعري رائع، لكن بعد عام 1968 الذي يشكل تاريخ تحول جذري طافت في الجو روح سوريالية، لذلك غيرت طريقة كتابتي" ... ويستمر الحديث حتى "أعلن رأي عن عودته إلى الغنائية" .. وبعد أن مضى اليوم أكثر من خمسين سنة، على بداية رحلة ليونيل راي في كتابة الشعر بعد هذه السنين، ماذا يمثل الشعر له بعد؟ يجيب على هذا السؤال بالقول: "الشعر طريقة حياة، إنه مثل الهواء الذي نتنشقه، الحياة بلا شعر، لا أهمية لها، إنه يساعد على الحياة، إنه حاجة عضوية، وفي الفترات التي لا أكتب فيها الشعر، أشعر بالألم".
يضم الكتاب ترجمات لقصائد مختارة من شعر ليونيل راي جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "الصمت" ، "الكلمات" ، "قصيدة" ، "عن الحضور" ، "مرعب وجه الزمن" ، "دعوة إلى الأثر" ، "كمنزل من كلام" ، "صفحات ظل" .
