إن الإشكالية التي تتصدّى لها الدراسة تتمحور حول التساؤل التالي: إلى أي مدى كانت التحولات بخصوص مكانة المرأة ودورها في الرواية الفلسطينية المعاصرة، تتحايث والتحولات التي طرأت على مكانتها ودورها في الحياة الاجتماعية والسياسية الفلسطينية قبل أوسلو وبعده. ستحاول الدراسة الوقوف على مدى محايثة الإبداعي الفلسطيني للاجتماعي والسياسي فيما يتعلق بالمرأة ومكانتها ودورها في المجتمع، والكيفية التي ظهر فيها التحايث، إن وجد.إن الفرضية الأساسية التي تنطلق منها الدراسة أن (الآخر) في الدراسة مأخوذ بمعناه الشمولي: الرجل، العائلة، الثقافة، والمؤسسة السياسية. الرواية الفلسطينية أخذت تنوع في تناولها للمرأة في مرحلة ما بعد أوسلو بما يختلف عما قبلها وتستجيب للقضايا الجديدة المطروحة. لقد بقي الموضوع الوطني حاضراً وطاغياً، ولكن الموضوع النسوي أخذ يغزو الكتابة حتى ما قبل أوسلو. والرواية الفلسطينية طرحت إشكاليات تتعلق بمكانة المرأة بجرأة لم يتطرق إليها الفكر السياسي المهيمن، وتحديداً حيال العلاقة مع الرجل، المؤسسة السياسية، والعائلة، ومشاركتها في النضال وتداعيات هذه المشاركة عليها وعلى علاقتها بالفكر والثقافة السائدة المتعلقة بالمرأة؛ فالأدب بالعادة أكثر جرأة من السياسة خصوصاً في مجتمعات تهيمن عليها السلطة القمعية في السياسة كما في الثقافة، ولاسيما المسكوت عنه في النص الأدبي.
