شكلت مجزرة أيلول بالنسبة لحركة المقاومة، نقطة انعطاف تاريخية ومصيرية، ولم في الواقع صدمة مفاجئة، فهي نتيجة حتمية لسلسلة من المقدمات أولها القبول بمشروع روجرز الذي لم يكن ممكناً تنفيذه الأعلى جثة حركة المقاومة. وفي جانبها الآخر تفاقمت آثارها نتيجة عدم وعي المقاومة لاتجاه التطورات السياسية بشكل مضاد لها واتخاذها مواقع دفاعية دون مبادرة بالهجوم سياسياً تمهيداً لرد عسكري حاسم بعد أيلول تتابعت الأحداث سريعة ضد حركة المقاومة، الانسحاب من المدن، تجريد الميليشيات من السلاح، مترافقة مع سرعة في تنفيذ الحل السلمي. لقد ألقت هذه التطورات أمام المقاومة مهمة ضرورية وملحة، هي تحليل ممارسة حركة المقاومة ومنهم تجاربها. ويعتبر هذا الكتب محاولة من الجهة الديموقراطية للبدء باستخلاص الدروس.
