هذا الكتاب ينقسم إلى شبعة أبواب تعالج الأبواب الأولى خصائص المناخ والاقاليم المناخية الجافة، الصحاري العربية بالاضافة إلى وصف للأراضي التى تقع في تلك المساحة ثم نبدأ من الباب الرابع وصفنا مصادر الماء في هذه الأقاليم الصحرواية سواء في مصر أو في الوطن العربي ، ثم احتوى الباب الخامس التقنيات التى تستخدم لاستزراع هذه المناطق التى تعاني نقص الماء فضلا عن ان بعض أراضيها ذات خواص تزيد الاستزراع صعوبة ، ثم عالج الباب السادس ما يتوقع من مخاطر ومعوقات استزراع هذه المناطق حتى يكون من يتصدى لهذا النشاط الهام بالباب السابع الذي يصف مناطق استزراع الأراضي وسردا لبعض الجهود التى بذلك في مصر وبعض الدول العربية لمد الخضرة والعمران إلى مناطق ظلت سنوات طوال صفراء كالحة.
