ليس هناك شك في أن جنكيز خان بغض النظر عن رؤيتنا الذاتية له أو رأينا الخاص فيما فعل، إنما يمثل نقطة تحول هامة في تاريخ العصور الوسطى، لكن أكثر ما لفت نظري في سيرة هذا الرجل هو إيمانه العميق والدائم والشديد بضرورة أن تتحد القبائل المغولية تحت قيادة واحدة، ولتأكيد مدى صعوبة ما فعله وأنجزه جنكيز خان هو أن تلك القبائل المغولية تحت قيادة واحدة، ولتأكيد مدى صعوبة ما فعله وانجزه جنكيز خان هو أن تلك القبائل المغولية كانت عبارة عن مجموعة من القبائل التي تعيش على الرعي، ومن ثم فإن حياتها كانت تتسم بالبدوية، بما تشمله من خشونة في التعاملات، وأيضاً الرغبة الملحة في الحصول على الكلأ والماء، ورغم ذلك استطاع أن يوحدهم نحو هدف واحد، وأخذ يخطو لهم خطوة خطوة نحو تحقيق طموحه الشخصي، أو لنقل حلمه بأن تكون لتلك القبائل الكلمة النافذة على كل العالم، أما أمر عنفه ودمويته مع الأعداء، فإن ذلك من طبيعة الأشياء إذ كان بد له من فعل ذلك؛ لعلمه انه يحارب ويغزو بلاداً تتميز عنه بالمدنية والثقافة، وأيضاً بالقدرات الإقتصادية التي تمكنها من هزيمته بسهولة، وهذا ما تجلى بعد ذلك عندما استطاعت مصر أن تهزم ابنه هولاكو، رغم ما كان لهم من صيت وسمعة تسبقهم، وأخيراً أعتقد أن في سيرة هذا القائد درساً هاماً يجب أن نعيه تماماً.
