حظيت قصيدة البردة، التي نسجها الإمام البوصيري، بقبول جماهير المسلمين على مر العصور، ولم يُرَ لقصيدة أخرى تأثيرٌ مثل تأثيرها، فاعتنى لذلك علماء المسلمين بشرحها وبيان معانيها، متناولين في شروحهم القصيدة من مختلف نواحيها. وفي هذا الشرح الذي بين أيدينا، تناول علم من أعلام الأزهر الشريف، وهو الشيخ خالد الأزهري، القصيدة من ناحية لغوية، فعرض بصورة مختصرة لمعاني الكلمات الواردة في كل بيت، متبعا ذلك بإعراب كلمات البيت، وبيان ما في تلك الأبيات من نواح بلاغية، معقبا بذكر محصل معنى تلك الأبيات. يعد الشرح لذلك بمثابة مدخلٍ لغويٍ لفهم قصيدة البردة، ونموذجا لكيفية توظيف علوم اللغة في فهم معاني النصوص.
