يحاول قطز عزل بيبرس، وفي أن واحد، يعزل مساعديه المخلصين، ولكن صفيّة الماكرة التي كانت موجودة في وقت مضى كجاسوسة موالية لقلاوون، تناور بذكاء لإعطاء بيبرس ميزة في لعبة الشطرنج السياسية.
وهناك خاتمة غير متوقعة تماماً بعد بعض مغامرات خطره على عرش السلطنة، وبيبرس يحتاج إلى إستخدام مهاراته الأكثر دهاء وأساليب لا ترحم للفوز بها.
نهاية مثيرة لثلاثية المغامرة التاريخية.
