هذه المجموعة القانونية والتشريعات الاقطاعية "الآسيز الرومانية" هي مجموعة المواد القانونية الاقطاعية التي طبقها الحكام الصليبيون في المملكة اللاتينية في القسطنطينية والأقاليم التابعة لها، وقد دونت هذه المواد القانونية الاقطاعية باللغة اللاتينية في شكلها الأصلي، وقام أحد الباحثين الأمريكيين والمؤرخين النابهين وهو بيتر توينج Toping,p بترجمة هذه المجموعة القانونية إلى اللغة الإنجليزية، وأضاف الكثير من التعليقات التي تخدم الموضوع.
ونظراً لأهمية هذا المصدر التاريخي لدارسي النظم الأوروبية في العصور الوسطى، أخذت على عاتقي مهمة تعريب هذا السفر المهم، بالإضافة إلى "دراسة للمقارنة بين النظام الإقطاعي الأوروبيونظام البرونويا البيزنطي" وذلك للتعرف على خطوط التلاقي والاختلاف بين هذين النظامين، وقد التزمت في هذه الترجمة الدقة والأمانة العلمية، وتبيان بعض المصطلحات الغامضة بعد الاستعانة بالكتب والمراجع التاريخية لأنهل منها المعرفة كما أنني أفدت كثيراً من تلك الملحوظات التي أبداها بعض أساتذي وزملائي، وأرجو أن أكون قد أسهمت ولو بقدر يسير في إثراء المكتبة العربية بمثل هذه المصادر التاريخية التي تعالج الموضوعات الحضارية في أوربا العصور الوسطى، ولاسيما التي تتعلق بتاريخ الشرق البيزنطي والغرب الأوربي.
