لذا أردنا إخراج المشروع الأضخم وهو "موسوعة أديان ومعتقدات شعوب العالم" للنور. ولكن هذا المشروع في حاجة لسنين طويلة، وأموال كثيرة ليرى النور. بيد أن التعطش الذي لمسناه من جمهور قراءنا في العالم العربي هو ما قادنا إلى تقديم هذا المشروع الضخم في خطوات معقولة، ومنطقية، ألا وهي تقديم الموسوعة- كخطوة أولى في مقالات منفصلة.
وهذا الكتيب الذي بين يديك، عزيزي القارئ، ما هو إلا إحدى هذه الثمار لجهد جهيد، إلا أنه، وللحق نقول، ممتع ولذيذ. إذ أننا ندرك، معك، مقدار حاجة شعوبنا العربية له كأداة معرفية. ونجد أن فيه يتناول المقال الأول مدخل عام للعقائد الدينية حول إمكانية الحياة بعد الموت من منظور ثقافات عديدة. أما الثاني فيتناول وصف لعدة عمليات أسطورية لمساكن الأموات. بينما المقالان الآخران فيعالجان أفكار ما بعد الموت في منطقتين لهما أهمية خاص، التقاليد اليهودية والتقاليد الصينية.
