ويطغى على القصص هاجس الكتابة الفانتازية، وإستعادة الأسطورة، والأدب الشفهي، فضلاً عن التأثر بروايات أمريكا اللاتينية وقصصها، التي شكلت بدورها توجّهاً موازياً في كتابات القصة والرواية الناطقة بالإسبانية، كأعمال بورخس، وكورتاثار، وماركيز.
ويتخفى الراوي في أعمال ميرينو وراء شخوص العمل التي يحوكها ببراعة، عبر تقنيات سردية متعددة، وتتصادى بدورها مع شرائح المجتمع الأسباني، ونماذجه الإنسانية المعاصرة، مؤسّساً عليها مشروعه السردي، وتتّسم لغة الحكي عند ميرينو بالسلاسة، وهو يطعِّمها بألفاظ من لغة إقليمه الجليقي.
