كان تحول الكنيسة إلى مؤسسة لإنتاج الطبقات الدينية المترفة يستلزم "استقطاب" المال القبطي إليها، والذي قدره المستشار طارق البشري بالمليارات. بعيدا عن رقابة الجهاز المركزي للمحاسبات، وهو الاستقطاب الذي كان يقتضي تحول الكنيسة في الوعي القبطي العام إلى مناط الولاء والبراء. وإلى دولة بديلة للدولة الأم "مصر" وتبوأ رئيسها موقع السلطة الموازية لسلطة رئيس الدولة، يتفاوض ويقاضي باسم جمعوع الأقباط مما أحال الكنيسة بمضي الوقت إلى وطن حقيقي بديل.
وبالتأكيد لا تتحمل الكنيسة وحدها مسئولية هذه العزلة، إذ تشاطرها الدولى في جزء منها، أفضى إلى تأصيل الشعور القبطي بأن الأقباط "جماعة مستقلة" تستقى هويتها من "الطائفة" وليس من "المواطنة"، مثل استحداث فكرية "إغلاق الدوائر" عام 1957 بمعنى إغلاق دوائر بعينها للأقباط لا يشاركهم فيها أحد من المرشحين المسلمين، ثم إدراج المادة 49 من دستور 1964 وتثبيتها في دستور 1971 والتى أعطت الحق لرئيس الجمهورية في تعيين عدد من الأعضاء بمجلس الشعب لا يزيد على عشرة، وهى المادة التى تستخدم حتى الآن. برغم عدم تحديدها لانتماء طائفى أو سياسى محدد. لتعويض غياب العنصر القبطي في البرلمان.. أي أن الدولة كرست من عزلة الأقباط باستبعاد الخيار السياسي وإبداله بمبدأ "الكوتة"، الذى تنازلت عنه طواعية ليكون قرار الاختيار بيد الباب شنودة! وهي الحالة التي انعكست بالضرورة على اجندات السياسيين الأقباط ممن يشاركون في الحياة العامة، وبخاصة في الانتخابات البرلمانية، إذ بات من المعتاد اعتمادهم على "الصوت الطائفي" وليس "الصوت الوطني".
لذلك كله اعتقد أن تفسير ظاهرة عزلة الأقباط تحتاج إلى جهد كبير وصادق وجاد وغير متعجل متى شئنا استردادهم مجددا من الهيمنة السياسية للكنيسة إلى رحاب الوطن كمواطنين طبيعيين يجمعهم مع أشقائهم المسلمين هموم واحدة .. وهي هموم الوطن وحسب وهذا ما سأحاوله في هذا الكتاب الذي أرجو أن يكون خالصا لله. ولمصلحة الوطن.
