بني خزرون أسرة يرجع نسبها إلى قبيلة زناتة، حكمت طرابلس مائة وخمسون سنة بدأت بحكم فلفل بن سعيد عام 391هـ /1000م وانتهت بحكم محمد بن خزرون آخر أمرائهم والذي طرد من مدينة طرابلس عام 540هـ /1146م، وكان قد صفا لهم الجو عندما رحل المعز لدين الله الفاطمي إلى مصر فاستقلوا بطرابلس وتغلبوا على ما بينهم وبين الفاطميين من صعوبات.
