يعّد هذا الكتاب (تاريخ الإمارات الإسلامية بالمشرق الإسلامي) محاولة للتعرف على أهم تلك الإمارات في خراسان وسجستان والهند وبلاد ما وراء النهر والتي تشجعت وأعلنت إنفصالها عن جسم الإمارة العربية الإسلامية في العصر العباسي، وعليه اقتضت ضرورة العمل في هذا الكتاب تقسيمه إلى ثمان فصول فضلاً عن التمهيد والخاتمة، فقد تضمن الفصل الأول: "الإمارة الطاهرية (205- 259هـ)"، الفصل الثاني: "الإمارة العلوية (الزيدية) في طبرستان (250- 361هـ)"، الفصل الثالث: "الإمارة الصفارية (254- 298هـ)، الفصل الرابع: "الإمارة السامانية"، الفصل الخامس: "(الإمارة الزيارية (326- 433هـ)"، الفصل السادس: "الإمارة الغزنوية (351- 582هـ)"، الفصل السابع: "(الإمارة الغورية (543- 602هـ)"، الفصل الثامن: "الإمارة الخوارزمية (490هـ - 628هـ)".
