لعل الروائي طه حامد الشّبيب من أظهر الكتّاب العراقيين الذين حقّقوا حضوراً جلياً في مسيرة الرواية العراقيّة خلال العقد الأخير من القرن العشرين، ومطلع القرن الحادي والعشرين، آية ذلك غزارة منجزه الروائي، والإحتفاء الثقافي الذي تفوز به نصوصه الروائيّة حين صدورها، بيد أَنّ هذا الحضور لم يفلح في الإنتقال بمنجزه إلى دائرة التلقّي الأوسع، التي تتجاوز حدود بلده، لأن الكثير مما قيل عن هذا المنجز الروائي يبقى موسوماً بأنه دراسات في الأدب الروائي، وليست دراسات في نقد الخطاب الروائي، مؤسَّسة على روح معرفي واعٍ، قادر على إستكناه التجربة، والنظر إليها بوصفها حصيلة فلسفة متحركة، ورؤية نامية تتكامل كلما اقتربت أكثر من الأسئلة الكبرى التي يثيرها الخطاب السردي، والأدوات التي تصطنعها تلك الرؤية النقدية وهي تتحسس روح النص ويوحه.
من هنا، حاولت هذه الدراسة جلاء جانب من صورة الرواية العراقية في زمن العزلة، وهو قضية اصطناع المكان في هذه الرواية، مصطفية عيِّنةً من المشهد السردي تمثلت في أربعٍ من روايات (طه حامد الشبيب) هي: (إنّه الجراد) و(الأبجدية الأولى) و(مأتم) و(الضفيرة)؛ وهو إصطفاء راجع إلى غزارة منجز هذا الروائي، ولأنّه يمثل الكتابة الروائية التي نضجت، تجربةً ونصّاً، في ظلِّ الحصار؛ مما جعل صاحبها شاهداً مميزاً على ما في تلك الحقبة من تشبُّتٍ بالهمِّ الثقافي والمعرفي لدى الذات العراقية المثقفة.
