مصطلح الخدمة يمكن القول إنه صفة مدح وثناء في غالب الأحيان، وليس صفة ذم وإساءة، والخدمة مهنة شريفة كسائر المهن، كما يرى الشيخ محمد صادق محمد الكرباسي، ونظراً لأهمية هذا الأمر في حياتنا المعاصرة التي تشهد نمواً مضطرداً في العلم والتقدم في كل جوانب الحياة، وتوسع جوانب العمالة والاستخدام، وخاصة مع نمو المجتمعات والأسر، وكثرة متطلبات الحياة، كما رأى الشيخ ضرورة إبراز الأحكام التي ترعى حقوق العامل أو المستخدم، كي يصار إلى إزالة الغبن والحيف اللذين يلحقان به في حاضر عمله ومستقبل نهاية خدمته، كذلك المبادئ التي ترعى حقوق المستخدم، لكي يعرف كل منهما حقوقه وواجباته لدى الآخر وتجاه الآخر.
