ينتابني أرق مزمن، أريد النوم ولا يريدني، أمسك بهاتفي المحمول، أتصفح الفيس بوك، لا جديد عليه منذ دقيقة، أتجول في البيت، أدخل الحمام رغم عدم احتياجي له، أتأمل في قطرات المياه المتساقطة... قطرة تلو قطرة، وقفت في النافذة لأتطلع في الشارع، يسود الشارع الظلام باستثناء بعض البقع المنيرة بفعل الأشعة المتسللة من مداخل ونوافذ البيوت، صرير مزعج لصرصار الليل يجتاح أذني، أزفر... أنقر بقبضة يدي على إطار النافذة مرات ومرات، ملل وأرق وخنقة يتحكمون فيّ، ارتديت ما لمسته يدي من ملابس ونزلت للشارع، لعل المشي يخفف عنيّ، واصلت المشي دون وقوف، أدخل في شارع وأخرج من أخر، اِلتقطت أذني صوت خافت يقول: يا بني... يا بني، اِلتفت إلي مصدره ولم أر صاحب الصوت فالمكان مظلم، خطيت في طريقي، فعاود النداء: يا بني... ساعدني، ترددت في الذهاب إليه ولا أعلم السبب أهو خوفًا أو كسلًا أو لا مبالاة؟، ومضيت في طريقي.
