Al-Ghazali (450/1058 - 505/1111), connu au moyen-age latin comme simple philosophe, naquit et mourut a Tus, dans l'Iran oriental.

Auteur fecond , on lui doit plusieurs centaines de traites dont le plus celebre et le plus etudie reste: ''La revivification des sciences religieuses'' (Ihya Ulum al-Din).
''Al-Durra al-Fakhira'' est le titre arabe du present ouvrage ecrit par Al-Ghazali au 12eme siecle. L'auteur traite dans ce livre les themes tels que la premiere mort, la seconde mort ou la mort terrestre, la mort des bienheureux, la mort de l'impie, les differentes etapes passees dans la tombe, le Jour de la Resurrection.
Le lecteur appreciera particulierement les informations, de premier ordre, qu'Al-Ghazali devoile sur la connaissance du monde de l'au-dela.
