Book Description
شاعر من الإمارات ولد في بلدة الحيرة بإمارة الشارقة عام 1925م عمل بتجارة اللؤلؤ وحقق نجاحاً باهراً في أعماله من خلال ممارسته التجارية بفضل خبرته الواسعة التي حصل عليها من والده، وعاش قسطاً من حياته متنقلاً بين الهند والإمارات.
كتب الشعر منذ أكثر من أربعين عاماً، وتناول شعره العديدُ من النقاد، وكتبت عنه دراسات ومقالات عديدة، جمعت في كتاب أصدره إتحاد كتّاب وأدباء الإمارات بعنوان: سلطان العويش تاجر إستهواه الشعر.
ضمّ المجلّد الأول من شعره ما نُشِرَ له من قصائد على إمتداد السنوات الماضية وطّبع غير مرة، ويعتبر في طليعة شعراء الغزّل في منطقة الخليج.
وقف جزءاً من أمواله وخّصّص ريعه لجائزة ثقافية تحمل اسمه، وله مساهماته الخيرية والإنسانية والثقافية على مستوى الوطن العربي، وتعتبر جائزته من أبرز الجوائز التي تعنى بالإبداعات الفكرية والأدبية في الوطن العربي وتمنح لخمسة مبدعين كل عامين.
حاز العديد من الجوائز لمساهماته الإنسانية والعربية، وتلقّى تكريماً خاصاً من صاحب السموّ الشيخ زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان رئيس دولة الإمارات، وله مكانته في المحافل العربية، حيث يعتبر محور ظاهرة إنسانية، ومثلاً أعلى في التواضع والسخاء لتدعيم الثقافة ومشاريعها البنّاءة.
في هذا الديوان جمع الشاعر حسن البحيري قصائد الشاعر سلطان العويس التي ضمها المجلدات الأول والثاني، وأخرجه وأشرف على طبعه وذلك إتماماً للفائدة ولنشر آثار هذا الشاعر الكبير.
