يضم هذا الكتاب بين طياته رسالتين الأولى "جزء فيه ذكر حال عكرمة" وهو من تصنيف الإمام المنذري حيث أفرده المصنف لتقديم ترجمة لعكرمة مولى حبر الأمة عبد الله بن عباس رضي الله عنهما وأرضاهما، فجمع فيه ما تيسر له جمعه من حال أبي عبد الله عكرمة، وأقوال المتقدمين والمتأخرين فيه، وعكرمة هو أبو عبد الله مولى عبد الله بن عباس، القرشي، القاسمي، مولاهم المدني.
أصله بربري من أهل المغرب، كان لحصين بن أبي الحر العنبري، فوهبة لابن عباس حين ولي البصرة لعلي بن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه.
واجتهد ابن عباس في تعليمه القرآن والسنن، وسمّاه بأسماء العرب، وهكذا كان يفعل في تسمية مواليه. والعكرمة: الأنثى من الحمام.
أما الرسالة الثاني التي يضمها هذا الكتاب فهي "عقد الجنان في بيان شعب الإيمان" للعلامة "محمد مرتضى الزبيدي" وهي عبارة عن جزء لطيف تحدث فيها المصنف عن أقسام شعب الإيمان، وبيان الأصول التي ترجع هذه الشعب كلها إليها وينتظم عقودها لديها.
