أسلوب محمد عثمان جلال، عربي أصيل. فهو شاعر مقتدر، جمع بين أطراف الثقافة العربية والغربية، فمن تبحر في اللغة الفرنسية وآدابها، إلى تمكن من النحو العربي، وحفظ للعروض. وقد ذكر فيما كتبه عن نفسه أنه بدأ حياته بحفظ القرآن الكريم، وأن ذلك "يصون اللسان عن الخطأ منذ الصغر، ويعود الطالب معرفة القراءة والكتابة والإملاء الصحيحة".. وهكذا كان أسلوبه في الواقع، مجموعة من هذه القدرات، مضافًا إليه روحه المصرية الصميمة التي تتصف بالذكاء، وتنهل من معين الصفاء. على أن هذه الروح المصرية، وإن أضفت على أسلوب الشاعر الأديب جمالًا لا ريب فيه، وحددت له شخصية يتميز بها عن غيره.. إلا أن المبالغة فيها قد دفعته إلى نوع من التساهل في التعبير.
والآن، ننتقل إلى متن الكتاب، كما هو، في طبعة 1908؛ دون تغيير أو تصحيح، إلا ما كان في بعض المواضع، وقد شرحت ذلك كله في الهامش. وأحمد الله تعالى، على أن وفقني للانتهاء من هذا العمل الجليل.
