لبنان ليس فعل إيمان دينيّ حتّى يشعر المرء بأنّ الركون إلى شيء من الرجاء الماورائيذ قد يُعينه على تجاوز عثرات الحياة اليوميّة... لبنان كيانٌ سياسيٌّ إجتماعيُّ قانونيُّ معتلٌّ، قبل أن يكون أنشودةً غنّاءة.
وما اعتلالُه المزمن سوى الوجه القاتم لمآسي الآلاف من اللبنانيّين الذين يعانون الذلّ والإهانة والفقر والتشرّد والتهجير والتسلّط والإستغلال؛ فلا يجوز لواضعي القصائد اللبنانيّة أن يعزّوا الناس بالتأمّل السكونيّ في بهاء الدعوة اللبنانيّة، فيما الإنسان في لبنان والبيئة في لبنان ساقطان في التهلكة.
نشأ الكتاب هذا من معاناة التفكّر في المأساة اللبنانيّة المشتعلة منذ الحرب (1975- 1990) والمتفاقمة في زمن إستلاب الإرادة الوطنيّة (1990- 2500) والمنذرة بالإنحلال الكيانيّ في زمن الضياع والتبعثر (2005- ....)، نصف قرن من الإعضال البنيويّ يوشك أن يقذف بالوطن اللبنانيّ في مهلكة الإنحطاط.
والمحزن أنّ أغلب اللبنانيّين أمسّوا يستثقلون وطأة هذا الإعضال على عاتقهم ويتكرّهون كأس الإنحطاط المرّة التي يستقيها أهلُ الإقتدار من مستنقعات الفساد الآسنة ويدورون بها على الأفراد والجماعات في كلّ حيّ وبلدة وقطاع.
بيد أنّ هؤلاء اللبنانيّين أنفسهم لا يحرّكون ساكناً ولا يلتئمون في محفل ثوريّ سليم النيّة لينفضوا عنهم مثل هذا الذلّ ومثل هذا العار، فلا عجب، والحال هذه، أن ينحدر لبنان إلى المرتبة الأدنى في مستوى تصنيف الأمم.
مُستند الكتاب التأمّلُ في أحوال الأمم الراقية نسبيّاً، تلك التي نضج فيها الوعيّ الإجتماعيُّ، فأفضى بها إلى إحترام شرعة حقوق الإنسان، والإحتكام الطوعيّ إلى القوانين المقترنة بها.
خلاصتُه أنّ اللبنانيّين أذعنوا لنوائب الدهر، فأضحوا كالأشلاء المتناثرة لا تجمعهم قضيّةٌ ساميةٌ، ولا تحرّكهم غايةٌ شريفةٌ، أما فرضيّته الأساسيّة، فالقول ببلوغ الإجتماع اللبناني شفير التفكّك والإنحلال، حيث أمسى لزاماً على كلّ لبنانيّ أن يحزم أمره، فإمّا الرضوخ والقبول بالإلغاء الذاتيّ، وإمّا الإنتفاض والتطوّع للإنقاذ في الدائرة الصغرى، فالدائرة الوسطى، فالكبرى.
