من الكتب التاريخية المطمورة كتابٌ يُسمَّى (كلشن خلفا) ألّفه باللغة العثمانية التركية مرتضى أفندي نظمي زاده، أو مرتضى السيد علي نظمي، وهو رجل ولد في بغداد ثمَّ هاجر منها مع أغلب الأتراك حينما استولى عليها الشاه عباس الصفوي، وقد توفي في الآستانة سنة 1136هـ، وحول هذا الرجل كلام طويل يجده الباحث بصورة تفصيلية في كتاب (مباحث عراقية) ليعقوب سركيس، وإنّ كتابه كلشن خلفا هذا أي روضة الخلفاء طبع في الآستانة سنة 1143هـ وتناول فيه معلومات ثمينة عن العالم الإسلامي بصورة عامة، والعراق الحديث بصورة خاصة لأنّه من رجال القرن الثاني عشر للهجرة وكان شاهد عيان على الحوادث التي وقعت في العراق ولم يترجم إلى اللغة العربية حتّى يومنا هذا لصعوبة اللغة التي كتب بها.
إنّ هذا الكتاب والكتابين اللذين ترجمناهما قبله وهما (دوحة الوزراء) و(تاريخ بغداد) بعضها يتمم بعضاً وتتسلسل الحوادث في هذه الكتب الثلاثة من نهاية الدولة الأموية إلى ما بعد حكم المماليك وانجلت بها ما كان المؤرخون يسمونها بالفترة المظلمة.
ولقد بذلنا مجهوداً كبيراً في ترجمته نعني به كتاب (كلشن خلفا) إذ دوّنه المؤلف يرحمه الله باللغات الثلاث، الفارسية والعثمانية القديمة والعربية وسبكها سبكاً غريباً، مما جعل الوصول إلى المعاني المقصودة في غاية الصعوبة، كما وأنّه لم يقم بترجمة ما نقله عن اللغة الفارسية من نثر ونظم إلى اللغة التركية بل تركه على لغته.
ولما كان طابع الكتاب تركياً لا يفهم اللغة الفارسية فقد كثر في طبعه التصحيف والتحريف والأغلاط الإملائية، ولقد كلفنا بعض الأصدقاء والأساتذة الملمين باللغة الفارسية لترجمتها فتعذّرت عليهم للأسباب الآنفة الذكر.
