إن أصحّ كُتب حديث النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم على الإطلاق كتاب البخاري، وأعلى ما فيه من الأسانيد ما كان ثُلاثيّاً، وهو ما كان بين البخاري وبين النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فيه ثلاثة، وكانت محصورة في اثنين وعشرين حديثاً منه.
وقد ساق المؤلف هذه الأسانيد إلى "صحيح البخاري" وثلاثياته، إحياءً لتلك الرسوم والآثار، وكانت طريقته في ذلك: "سياق الحديث من طريق كل شيخ مع ترجمة وجيزة له في الحاشية"، "الترجمة لكل رجال الإسناد"، "النص على سماع المترجمين لــ"صحيح البخاري" سواء أكان ذلك تامّاً لهم أم لبعضه، وإلا فلثلاثياته.
