«الموقف الثوري في المسرح الشعري، مسرح عبد الرحمن الشرقاوي نموذجًا» كتاب نقدي جديد للشاعر والناقد والأكاديمي " د. عبد التواب محمود عبد اللطيف"، الكتاب يتضمن خمسة فصول، بالإضافة إلى المقدمة والخاتمة تناولت الآتي: (في الفصل الأول: تناول المؤلف الشخصية الثورية في مسرح الشرقاوي، وأوضح أنه جعل للشخصية أهمية محورية في البناء الدرامي، وكانت أهم سمة تميزها هي ثوريتها المطلقة، كما أفرد للمرأة دورًا بطوليًا ثوريًا رائعًا، وأبرز قدرة المرأة على تحمل أعباء الوطن، والقيام بدورها الوطني "الاجتماعي والسياسي". فالمرأة في مسرح الشرقاوي قوية، جريئة، فدائية، ثائرة، واعية بحقوقها وواجباتها، تؤثر الوطن بأغلى ما تملك وتخوض المخاطر من أجل النصر والتحرير، الفصل الثاني: تناول الأحداث الثورية في مسرح الشرقاوي، حيث استطاع الشرقاوي أن يجعل من مسرحياته تجسيدًا لأفكاره الثورية، وأخذ يدين القوى السياسية الحاكمة حين تنفرد بالسلطة، وتتنكر لمبادئ الثورة، وتسلب الفرد حريته، وتضيف بهذا السلب التعسفي حرية أكبر تمارس من خلالها سلطة لا تستحقها، الفصل الثالث: جاء بعنوان "الزمان والمكان ودورهما في تنامي الأحداث الثورية"، فالشرقاوي استخدم الدلالات الزمانية والمكانية بأبعادها المختلفة والمتعددة التي تعطى للنص حيوية وثراءً، واستطاع أن يتخذ من الأحداث التاريخية مادة لحبكة درامية يطرح من خلالها تلك القضايا الاجتماعية والسياسية والفكرية، لتحقيق العدالة والحرية، وكان التاريخ القديم والحديث هو الإطار الفني لأغلب الأعمال والستار الذي أخفى المضامين العصرية، أما الفصل الرابع فقد تناول حوار الموقف الثوري في مسرح الشرقاوي، فنلاحظ أن اللغة عند الشرقاوي سهلة، وقريبة من لغة الحياة اليومية، مؤدية للمعنى وموصلة له بأقرب طريق، وذلك يرجع إلى تمرس الكاتب على الكتابة الصحفية المتميزة، وفي الفصل الخامس والأخير تحدث المؤلف عن السمات والخصائص الفنية للموقف الثوري في مسرح الشرقاوي، من خلال عرض لبعض المواقف الثورية)، وفي خاتمة الكتاب، وبعد التطواف في المسرح الشعري عند الشرقاوي، يؤكد المؤلف أن عبد الرحمن الشرقاوي قد أضاف الكثير إلى هذا الفن، كما عبَّر عن لسان حال الشعوب العربية، في الفترة التي تحياها تحت وطأة الاستعمار، فكان مثالاً للأديب المعبر عن روح عصره، وقضايا أمته في تجربة تنبع بالصدق والمعايشة الحقيقية في قالب فني خالص.
