كنت مهتمًا لدراسة هذا التغيير في حياة الرئيس الراحل حيث كان من أشد المتحمسين للحزب بشعارة العلماني والذي ضحى بالكثير من أجل مبادئه... كيف تغير إلى أن ينقل حزب من العلمانية إلى الإيمان.
هنا يأتي دور الباحثين والكتاب وعلماء النفس لدراسة هذا التحول في حياة صدام حسين؟، وهل هي فعلًا وحقًا كانت عن قناعة إيمانية؟. أم كانت محاولة منه استيعاب الروح الانهزامية التي سادت الشعب العراقي من حرب العراق وإيران واحتلال الكويت والخروج منه وإلى الحصار الاقتصادي الذي أدى إلى قتل أكثر من مليون عراقي جوعًا ومرضًا.
فكان لا بد من أن أتصل بالكثير من الأصدقاء لجمع هذه المعلومات والاستماع إلى آرائهم في هذا التحول وقد وعدني الكثير منهم أن يرسلوا لي الوثائق حول إصدار هذه القرارات عن حملته الإيمانية والتي أصدرها الرئيس الراحل شخصيًا بخط يديه ولكن كانت الظروف حيث جاءت عكس ذلك احتلت العراق واستباح الوطن وحرقت كل المستندات العراقية من المكتبة الإسلامية والمتحف الوطني والمكتبات والوزارات وسجلات واستبيح العراق بالكامل حيث أرادوا أن يمحوا ذاكرة الوطن حاولت الاتصال بالأصدقاء الذين تعهدوا بإرسال هذه الوثائق عن الحملة الإيمانية ولكن للأسف علموا أن الكثير منهم قتلتهم الميليشيات والقوات الأميركية حيث تم إعدامهم بالجملة تحت إشراف وحماية القوات الأميركية حيث أطلقت المليشيات تعبث بالوطن قتلًا ونهبًا وسرقة.
ولكني لم أيأس بل بحثت في بعض ما كتب عن تلك الحملة الإيمانية إضافة إلى أخذ شهادات بعض الذين عاصروهم فكان هذا الكتاب بين يدي القارئ العزيز وهو الكتاب الأخير حول الكتابة عن مرحلة الرئيس الراحل صدام حسين.
