على هذه الصفحات ستقرأ ما يسميه البعض "قصة حياتى" ولكنى أسميها "أخطاء حياتى"، ولقد كانت حياتى سلسلة من الأخطاء المتصلة، استفدت من بعضها، وأرجو أن يستفيد القراء من البعض الآخر!!، وعلى هذه الصفحات ستقرأ قصص ملوك، وقصص "صياع" وقصص أبطال فى ثياب رعاع، وقصص رعاع لهم حركات الابطال! وبقدر ما كانت هذه الأيام عاصفة، بقدر ما كانت لذيذة، وبقدر ما كانت بائسة، بقدر ما كانت عريضة، ورغم الظلام الذى اكتنف حياتى، ورغم البؤس الذى كان دليلى وخليلى، إلا أننى لست آسفا على شئ. فلقد كانت تلك الأيام حياتى! ومن عصير تلك الأيام، ومن رحيق تلك الليالى، خرج الى الوجود ذلك الشئ الذى هو أنا!
وسواء قرأت هذه الصفحات ولعنت حياتى، أو قرأتها ورثيت لها، فأنا على أية حال عشتها ولعنتها.. ولكنى كثيرا! وفى رواية لاروين شو تقول زوجة أحد الأبطال لزوجها "إنك ترفض الدفن الآن وكنت من قبل تلعن حياتك، لم تكن هذه حياة، ولكنها كانت محنة، فلم تكن تشرب إلا أردأ أنواع الكونياك، ولم تكن تدخن إلا أحقر أنواع السجاير، ولقد كنت على الدوام عاطلا من كل موهبة، وكنت فى أغلب الأحيان عاطلا عن العمل. وعندما توفاك الله ظننت أنك ستسر كثيرا، ولكنك الآن ترفض الدفن وتريد أن تعود إلى الحياة! ولكن دعنى أقل لك بصراحة: ما أغباك، فما كان أتعس حياتك". ورد عليها الميت الذى يرفض الدفن "كل هذا صحيح، ولكنها كانت حياتى.. وأنا أحبها". هكذا أنا أيضا أقول.. على أى وجه كانت الحياة فى أيام الطفولة فأنا أحبها، فقد كانت حياتى!
