إن الراوى الذى سرعان ما يتملكه الإحساس الصادق بأن هناك قوى خفية تربط صديقه هذا مع جارته بريجيتا، المالكة لضيعة مجاورة، سرعان ما يتيقن أن صديقه الرائد البالغ من العمر خمسين عامًا، يكن فى أعماق قلبه حُبًّا من نوع فريد لهذه المرأة الغريبة الأطوار.
