هذا الكتاب يمثّل محاولة جديّة لإظهار الأدّلة الدالّة على أنّ الولاية في عصر الغيبة هي للفقهاء الصالحين المؤهّلين لقيادة الأمّة، وللذبّ عن هذه الولاية وردّ الإشكالات التي أوردها عليها بعض الناس، ولتقديم بعض التوضيحات المهمّة المرتبطة بالولاية من جهة وبسلوك المؤمنين من جهة أخرى.
وقد قسمنا الكتاب إلى ثلاثة أقسام، طبعنا كلّ قسم على حدة.
القسم الأوّل: تعرّضنا فيه للأدلّة الدالّة على ولاية الفقيه، عقلاً ونقلاً، كما ناقشنا فيه البدائل التي قد تُطرح تحت عنوان ولاية الأمّة على نفسها.
القسم الثاني: ناقشنا فيه جملة من الأحكام المتفرّعة على النظرية، كتعيين الوليّ وصلاحيّاته، ووحدة الوليّ وتعدّده، ونحو ذلك من مسائل مهمّة، وذكرنا الإشكالات الواردة على النظرية بشكل عامّ، وناقشناها، أمّا الإشكالات التي ترافق كلّ دليل من أدلّة ولاية الفقيه العقلية والنقلية، فقد تمّ التعرّض لها في سياق ذكر الدليل نفسه.
القسم الثالث: استعرضنا فيه تاريخ نظرية ولاية الفقيه في الفقه الجعفري الإمامي، بهدف إثبات أنّ ولاية الفقيه قول مشهور مجمع عليه بين العلماء، قد تناقلوه بينهم تناقل المسلّمات، وبينّا موارد الشبهة التي أدّت بالبعض كي يدّعي أنّ ولاية الفقيه مختلف فيها، وليس الأمر كذلك.
