"سلام" قصة تربوية تُبسّط مفهوم الحرب والسلام بالنسبة للأطفال حيث اتخذت المؤلفة "فرح حسين العبد الله" من هذا الإسم شعاراً للسلام الذي يرومه اللبنانيون، ومن إسم ضيعة لبنانية سمتها "سلام" مثالاً وأنموذجاً يختصر حضارة بلدها لبنان وتراثه وجماله عبر التاريخ، بل وحتى فنه وإبداعه، فتحضر في القصة "الدبكة وأغاني الدلعونا والرقصات الفلكلورية وحركة الأطفال والشباب الذين حوّلوا الأرض الجرداء إلى حقول خضراء مزينة زهوراً ملونةً بالفرح والسلام.
وهكذا تقدم القصة للأطفال صوراً من لبنان قبل الحرب (الخراب والدمار) وبعد الحرب (الفرح والسلام) حيث عادت الحياة إلى طبيعتها، بفضل عنصر المشاركة والتعاون، في إشارة من المؤلفة إلى مفهوم التعاون والعمل على تحقيق وطن يسوده السلام. وتختتم بقولها: "هذه هي سلام التي رفضت أن يكون الحزن واليأس والموت شعارها، واستبدلته بالحب والفرح والعطاء، فانطلقت تغني وترقص رافضة الحزن واليأس، وناقلة إشعاع الفرح للبنان ولكل الناس في هذا العالم".
وأخيراً أسئلة حول النص، وتدريبات عن معاني الكلمات وأضدادها في اللغة العربية، وبورتريه يعبر فيه الطفل عن شعوره (من خلال قصة مؤثرة تذكرها).
