تتناول هذه الدراسة تقارير الرحالة الأوربيين حول المرأة في الحرم السلطاني من خلال أعمالهم الأصلية مع المحاولة أن تكون دراسة علمية بحتة، مستندة إلى المصادر المعاصرة الفارسية والأردية؛ وذلك في مقابل أعمال هؤلاء الرحالة الأوربيين في الموضوع نفسه، والتي اعتمدت بالدرجة الأولى على نسج الخيال والكذب والافتراء، مما أدى إلى وجود قدر كبير من المبالغات وعدم الموضوعية في كلامهم حول الحرم السلطاني المغولي وعلاقة السلاطين المغول بالنساء والحياة الأسرية والاجتماعية في الحرم السلطاني. وتتعرض الدراسة كذلك لذكر تقارير بعض النساء الأوربيات اللواتي كن يعشن في بيوت المسلمين، وشاهدن حياة المرأة وعلاقاتها مع زوجها وأهله، وكتبن تقارير صادقة فيما شاهدن خلال وجودهن مع النساء المسلمات في بيوتهن.
