إن هذا الكتاب الصغير هو ترجمة لتحقيق إستقصائي نادر وفريد من نوعه للصحافي الإنكليزي المشاكس والشهير جون آر. برادلي، عن توترات الشعوب والأعراق الإيرانية، وكان قد كتبه بعد زيارة لإيران استمرت ثلاثة أسابيع في أوائل عام 2006، ونجح في الوصول إلى منطقة خوزستان (عربستان)، ذات الأغلبية العربية والغنية بالنفط على الحدود مع العراق، كذلك زار غيرها من مناطق الأقليات العرقية ليكتب هذا التقرير الشامل.
ولد جون برادلي عام 1970، في إنكترا، وتخصص في الصحافة في جامعة يونيفيرسيتي كوليدج لندن، دارموث، وفي إكستر كوليج، يتكلم العربية بطلاقة باللهجة المصرية، وعمل مراسلاً حرّاً في الشرق الأوسط منذ عام 1999، لحساب مؤسسات مرموقة مثل واشنطن كوارترلي وذا نيو ريببلك، ورويترز وملحق تايمز الأدبي (TLS)، وواشنطن تايمز وديلي تيلغراف، وذي إندبندنت، وذا فاينانشال تايمز.
ويظهر برادلي بإستمرار في كبرى وسائل الإعلام ليحلل شؤون الشرق الأوسط والإرهاب، عمل محرراً في جريدة "عرب نيوز" السعودية في جدة لمدة سنتين ونصف، وأصدر بعد رحيله كتاب "فضح العربية السعودية" في عام 2006، كما أصدر عام 2008 كتاب "داخل مصر" (Inside Egypt) الذي تنبأ فيه بالثورة المصرية، وقد ترجم إلى العربية مؤخراً بعنوان "في قلب مصر: أرض الفراعنة على شفا الثورة".
وحاز برادلي قصب السبق عام 2012 بإصدار كتاب رائد توقع فيه فشل الإنتفاضات العربية بعنوان "ما بعد الربيع العربي: كيف خطف الإسلامويون ثورات الشرق الأوسط" ليكون تقريباً أول من تنبّأ بفشل الربيع العربي ووقوع ثورة مضادة كما شرح بوضوح ودهاء في الكتاب وقد صدرت ترجمته العربية عام 2013 عن "كلمات عربية" للنشر.
أما آخر كتبه فهو بعنوان "خلف حجاب الفسق" وخصصه للجنس في بعض الدول العربية وإيران، وهو أهم كتبه نظراً لندرة محتواه وكونه مبنيّاً على رحلات ميدانية ومغامرات مثيرة قام بها برادلي بنفسه.
