يبدأ تشكل نص رواية «شهادة وفاة كلب» من مقطع مختار بعناية ودقة، ألا وهو «أيها القارئ/ إنك لتنبض بالحياة/ والكِبَر، والحب/ مثلي أنا، فإليك الأغاني الآتية « والت ويتمان».
إن استفتاحا كهذا تبدأ الرواية من بعده ليس عبثا استحضاره، إنما سيلاحظ القارئ أن عوالم الرواية تذهب إلى قارئها لتعيد ترتيب العبث الواقعي رمزا وسخرية، ببناء واقع افتراضي آخر، ذلك أن الرواية هدّامة واقع ليس على مستوى البناء؛ إنما على مستوى نسيج بناء آخر تشيّده الرواية، وتذهب إليه في ثلاثمائة ورقة، بدءا باللامكان الإحالي في العاصمة «فرقد»، وهو المكان الرمز، المسمى اللاواقعي، مسمى ومسميات أخر افتراضية، عاصمة ميادين وأحياء بشوارع ومطارات ومدارس ومكتبات تحمل أسماء شخصيات إحالية معروفة.
رواية «شهادة وفاة كلب» ستفتح الكثير من القراءات والأسئلة على لغة لم تنس السخرية، ولا الرمز كذلك، لذا قارئ آخر غيرنا يمكنه أن يترك عن هذه الرواية أسئلة أخرى كذلك، واضح كذلك أن في الاشتغال على النص جهدا كتابيا واضحا، اشتغالا متعمدا ومقصودا".
