يأتى هذا الكتاب فى عدة أبواب، يعرض الباب الأول منها مفهوم الدراسات المستقبلية والمفاهيم المرتبطة بها لأنواع الدراسات المستقبلية وأساليبها وأهميتها؛ ويعرض الباب الثانى اتجاهات معاصرة فى التعليم. ويبين الباب الثالث خبرات بعض الدول فى تطوير التعليم، ثم يقدم الباب الرابع جودة التعليم الالكترونى وفقا لمعايير الاتحاد الأوروبى، ويتناول الباب الخامس أدوار حديثة لمعلم المستقبل فى ضوء التعليم الافتراضى. أما الباب السادس فيتناول المكتبة المدرسية كأسلوب للتنمية الذاتية فى حياة المعلم والطالب، والباب السابع يقدم ضمان الجودة والاعتماد لمؤسسات إعداد المعلمين، والباب الثامن يتناول التجارب الأجنبية فى تحسين الأداء المؤسسى بمؤسسات التعليم العالى. ويدور الباب التاسع حول العنف وثقافة المدرسة، ويقدم الباب العاشر تحسين نوعية جودة التعليم بتمكين الأسرة والمدرسة والمجتمع؛ وأخيرا الباب الحادى عشر يقدم رؤية مستقبلية لتطوير التعليم الابتدائى فى مصر.
