لقد أصبحت السياحة في عصر العولمة من أهم الصناعات التي تهتم بها كل دول العالم سواء الدول المتقدمة أو الدول النامية، وخير الأدلة على ذلك الاحصائيات السياحية التي توضح أهمية السياحة بالنسبة للاقتصاد العالمي. وتعتبر الدول المتقدمة مثل الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وكذا أغلب دول أوروبا أن السياحة اليوم من أهم ضروريات الحياة المعاصرة، فقد أصبحت شعوب هذه الدول تعتبر السياحة جزءاً لا يتجزأ من الثقافة والبنيان الفكري والارتقاء الحسي والوجداني للإنسان، وأن السياحة خير السبل لكي يصل الإنسان في عمله إلى التفوق والإبداع.. لأن فترات الراحة والترويح بعيداً عن بيئة العمل ضرورة من ضرورات رفع الكفاية الإنتاجية. ولذا اهتمت دول كثيرة بقطاع السياحة ومنها مصر لكونها من الدول التي تمثل المقاصد السياحية المتفردة، وقامت بإنشاء مدن وقرى ومراكز سياحية ترفيهية تزود بوحدات إيواء وبكل وسائل الترفيه.
