الكتاب هو مجموعة شعرية حملت عنوان «الزورق المحطم» فجاءت في 82 صفحة من القطع الصغير، تحتوي على مجموعة من القصائد الشعرية للكناني، الذي يكتب قصيدته من عمق مغامرته مع اللغة والحياة في آن واحد، باحثاً ومتسائلاً، ولذلك فهو ينظر الى القصيدة كتجربة لغوية ذات بعد وجودي، وشكل من الحياة يغير شكلاً من اللغة، والقصيدة عند الكناني هي ممارسة للكتابة وللحياة في آن واحد، وهي ممارسة وجودية بامتياز وتمرين روحي يحتفي فيه بالكلمات المضيئة. من عناوين المجموعة: «رسالة حب صغيرة»، «الغربة»، «دجلة»، «الشمس»، «رد اعتبار»، «لن انسى»، «تذكر»، «حار فكري»، «رثاء اخي علي»، «خدعوها»، «قمر الليالي»، من اجواء المجموعة قصيدة «ما ابكاك ابكانا»: «يا عازف الناي صوت الناي اشجاني قل انت بيتا وخذ من اهتي الثاني ما كدت تنفخ حتى باح ما كتمت انـــفـــــاس صــــدرك مـــــــن حـــزن فابـــــكانــــــي».
