في مجموعته الشعرية (نحّات الريح) يبدو هاني نديم منشغلاً بالتقاط مفردات الحياة، بوعي حادٍ به مفلسفاً الأشياء والكائنات والموجودات على طريقته، ومتوجهاً بأشعار إلى الكل، إلى كل من تعج ذاكرته بصوته.
في قصيدته المعنونة (ضجيج الحرير) يقول:
"نثرت" على نواحي الشعر حتفي / لينظمه على الأحلام ندفُ!! ، وفوق بيادر الإلهام رفي / أطيرُ .. وزئبق الإشراق يقفو ، تصيح إمامة العشاق .. خلفي / ولا يصغي لمنتحلين دُفّ (...)".
وإذا كانت الأفكار لدى الشاعر نديم هي أقوى المشاعر في نصه، فإن أجملها هو التعبير الخفي عن الصور الفاضحة، وهو هنا يمتلك حس المواربة في التقطيع اللغوي، ليثير في قارئه مكامن لم يلحظها في سياق السرد الشعري الموارب الذي يضفي حركة ما بعدها حركة، وهو ما نلحظه في قصيدة "بورتريت":
"لا شيء هنا ...
الحدأة تغلّي ريشها النابت للشتاء ،
الضباعُ افلتت صمغُ فرجها على حدودها ،
والوشق - تخوم الخوف - أشتمُ رائحة الموت .. لا عاد ولا تقدم
فقط أصغى للريح تندلق على وبر أذنيه ... وتسمّر . إنها تدور ،
ذاكرةُ القفار خطىً، يمشّطها الغبار .. ،
في البال بلادٌ تصفق من بعيد ومطارحٌ تتحنّى ...".
يضم الكتاب قصائد متنوعة تتراوح بين الشعر الموزون والشعر العربي الحديث وقصيدة النثر. جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "وأمضي" ، "بورتريت" ، "ضجيج الحرير" ، "عراك" ، "زعفران" ، "مطارح" ، "هم" ، "عبد الكريم" ، "سيد الحمام" ، "صلاة لأبي ليلى" (...) وقصائد أخرى.
