وقد وضحت في كتابي هذا ما يجب أن يتمتع يه المحامي من قدرة على فهم القضية التي هو بصددها، وأن عليه دورا هاما وجوهريا في كشف أبعاد القضية، والاطلاع الجاد على كل ما يكفل له الوقوف على حقيقتها، وموقف موكله، ولقد بدأت بضرورة قراءة القضية، التي أعتمد عليها في المطالبة ببراءة موكلي، ثم خصصت فصلا كاملا لطريقة المرافعة المثلى والنموذجية، ولم أنس آراء عمالقة المحامين في هذا الصدد والذين ستبقى أسماؤهم مسطورة بحروف من نور في سجل التاريخ، وسفر الزمن من أمثال شيخ المحامين إبراهيم الهلباوي، وما كان لي أن أذكر جمهور المحامين بطبيعة عمل المحامي، والأسلوب الأمثل الذي يجب أن يتوخاه المحامي في كل قضية تبعا لنوعها، وطبيعتها، وظروفها، وتحتم على طبيعة هذا الكتاب أن أنوه عما قيل عن أروع بعض المرافعات في بعض القضايا الشهيرة على مدى عصور التاريخ، ولم يكن من فضول القول أن أضع عنوانا بعد ذلك في صيغة سؤال هو: كيف يؤدي المحامي مهنته؟.
