يذكر المؤلف في هذا الكتاب بعض ما ورد في فضائل كندة وقبائلها من الأخبار والآثار الواردة عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، وعن أصحابه، وعلماء أمته، فإن كندة ممن أسلمت بإذعان الإيمان وغاية القرآن بدون السيف والقهر، ولها ما لغيرها من الفضل بقية قبائل القحطان وعدنان، وقال محمد بن هشام بن السائب الكلبي صاحب جمهرة النسب: إن كندة من أحسن قبائل حضرموت، جاءها الإسلام فأسلموا طائعين منقادين به وبالقرآن، ثم تواردت عشائر أهل اليمن من حمير وكندة وقبائل قحطان، أسلموا على يد الإمام علي بن أبي طالب، ومعاذ بن جبل، أرسلهما النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يدعوان إلى الإسلام، وأسلم أهالي حضرموت أيضاً على يد لبيد بن زياد الأنصاري، أرسله النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إلى كندة بعد قدوم الأشعث بن قيس الكندي إلى المدينة، وسأل النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أن يبعث إلى حضرموت رجلاً يعلّم الناس بالإسلام، فأرسل إليهم لبيداً رضي الله عنه، فبقي لبيد فيهم أن قُبِض النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وولي الخلافة أبو بكر الصديق رضي الله عنه، وأقره بتريم والياً على كندة، وأخباره في كتب التواريخ كثيرة، ذكر ذلك المؤرخ محمد بن أحمد بن الحسن الهمداني في صفة جزيرة العرب.
ولقد صنف الإمام الحافظ المحدث السيد سالم بن بصري العلوي كتاباً في فضائل اليمن وحضرموت، ولأهمية هذا الكتاب عمل الدكتور عمر باحاذق على إختصاره ليساهم في التأريخ لفضائل اليمن وحضرموت وقبائلهما. وقد ضم الكتاب الثاني الحديث عن قبائل خولان، طي، مذحج، همدان، الأزد، الأنصار، وقبائل قريش من بني هاشم، بني أمية، بني زهرة، وغيرها الكثير...
