إن كتب النوادر من أهم كتب اللغة، وبخاصة كتب النوادر التي ألفت في القرن الثاني الهجري ومطلع القرن الثالث؛ لأنها بمثابة المرآة التي تعكس لغة البادية في ألفاظها، وعباراتها، وشواهدها وقتئذ.
وتعدّ ظاهرة التأليف في النوادر مرحلة من مراحل جمع اللغة، وتسجيلها، وإستخلاص قواعد النحو وشواهده، فهي في حقيقة أمرها إستكمال للجوانب التي فاتت النحاة، أو نظروا إليها على أنها ظواهر شاذة عن قواعد العامة التي سجلوها.
ومن أهم كتب النوادر في منتصف القرن الثالث، كتابنا هذا الموسوم بــ"نوادر ابن الإعرابي" الذي يرى النور لأول مرة في طبعته هذه، وقد جاء عمل المحقق في الكتاب على الشكل التالي:
-المقدمة: استهلها بالحديث عن سلسلة كنوز التراث المخطوط، والغرض منها، ثم بالحديث عن أول آثارها وهو كتابنا هذا.
-الفصل الأول: عقده للدراسة.
-الفصل الثاني: اشتمل على كتاب (نوادر ابن الأعرابي) محققاً.
-الملحق الأول: التنبيهات على نوادر ابن الأعرابي، لعلي ابن حمزة البصري.
-الملحق الثاني: شوارد النوادر، وهي عبارة عن جمع النوادر المتفرقة في الكتب، التي لم ترد في نسخة النوادر، ومن ثم أردف الفصلين والملحقين بفهارس فنية، ثم ثبت بأهم المصادر والمراجع.
