يتكون الكتاب من فصلين اثنين، يبحث الأول في مفهوم المحامي الدولي بالإستناد إلى تحليل الإجتهادات الفقهية والقضائية فضلاً عن الممارسات الدولية، وغاية ذلك تحديد نقاط التمايز بين المحامي على المستوى الوطني وبين المحامي على المستوى الدولي، فضلاً عن المجالات التي تمكن من خلالها وضع بصماته فيها، وبالخصوص المنظمات الحقوقية المختصة بالشؤون الدولية ذات الطابع الإنساني.
أما الفصل الثاني فيبحث في الدور المحامي الدولي عند أهم الإسهامات التي تحسب له على صعيد القضايا الدولية الإنسانية، ولا سيّما في الإعتماد عليه كمستشار في القوات المسلحة لتأكيد إحترام قواعد القانون الدولي الإنساني في أثناء النزاعات المسلحة، فضلاً عن البحث في ادوار أخرى كالدفاع عن ضحايا الإنتهاكات الجسيمة التي طالت المدنيين في الكثير من القضايا الدولية التي كشف عنها النقاب هذا الكتاب وحللها وفقاً لأصول البحث القانوني.
وأخيراً بحث الكتاب في فصله الثاني في الدور المنشئ والكاشف للمحامي الدولي وبالخصوص في أهم الإسهامات ذات الصلة بالقانون الجنائي الدولي من خلال تحليل الدفوع والطلبات والطعون التي تقدم بها محامون إلى المحاكم الجنائية الدولية وفي قضايا منتخبة ولا سيّما امام المحكمة الجنائية الدولية ليوغسلافيا السابقة، والمحكمة الجنائية الدولية لرواندا.
وأخيراً المحكمة الجنائية الدولية والتي أسهمت في تطوير هذا القانون بشكل ملفت للنظر، وهو ما أراد المؤلفان بيانه بهدف تطوير قدرات المحامين العرب على صعيد القضايا الدولية الإنسانية.
