أما الفصل الثالث (النظريات الحديثة في علم إجتماع السكان) فيضم ثلاثة مباحث: التفسير البيولوجي والإقتصادي والإجتماعي للنظرية السكانية، أما الفصل الرابع (نظرية التحول الديموغرافي وتطور النظرية السكانية) فيضم مبحثين، نظرية التحول السكاني، وإتجاهات تطور النظرية السكانية، وأخيراً، يحتوي الفصل الخامس (الإتجاهات المنهجية الحديثة في علم إجتماع السكان) على مناهج البحث السوسيوديموغرافي، والمصادر الأساسية للمعطيات السكانية.
