إلى متى يظل هذا الباب مغلقاً... والقلب معلق برجاء صادق، ودعاء خالص إلى الله... وتساءل الدمع الذليل من أعطى الطاووس كل هذا الكبرياء؟! من شرفة الحجرة بالبيت القديم كنت أتابع راعي الغنم وهو يسوق أغنامه بين الزراعات. وتعجبت من المهارة الفائقة التي يسيطر بها على هذا القطيع الكبير من الأغنام. وأكبرت الرجل واحترمته. وتساءلت عن الفرق الحقيقي بين راعي الغنم وقائد الأوركسترا الموسيقي. فكليهما يحمل عصاً... يسيطر ويوجه ويتحكم في قطيعه. بل لعل راعي الغنم مسئوليته أعظم وأخطر رغم أن الأخير هو الذي ينال التصفيق!.
لا زال الأمل معلقاً بالباب المغلق... والزهق واليأس يملآن النفس المعذبة بملل الانتظار منذ زمن لم أسمع زقزقة العصافير... ولم أر الجد المعلق صورته على الحائط بمنزلنا القديم, وتمكلني ثغاء الخروف وهو يلعن في تحد أنه سيترك البرسيم ويأكل التفاح! وتساءلت عن طموح الصرصار!. والعقل أوشك على الجنون, والباب لم ينفتح بعد... والمخاوف لا تهدأ... وإلى متى الانتظار؟!. وددت لو أعشعش مع العصافير في الأشجار، أو أن أقيم مع الثعابين في جحورها. وما أفظع بشاعة الوساوس؟. والصمت لا يزال يخيم على المكان كله بشكل مخيف!.
