نقرأ في هذا الكتاب نتائج دراسة بعثة انثروبولوجية برئاسة الأستاذ هنري فيلد إلى كردستان العراقية جرت بإشراف جامعة هارفرد في الولايات المتحدة. شمل أولها التحقيقات والفحوص التي أخضع لها الكرد اليزيدية والتركمان إلى جانب دراسة مماثلة لقبائل شمر والصلبة العربية، وشمل ثانيهما الكرد والآشوريين ضمن المنطقة التي سماها الأستاذ "هنري فيلد": (الجزء الأوسط من جنوب كردستان، وحددهما كما ورد في مقدمة كتابه إذ قال: "واجد من الدواعي الأساسية لبعثة متحف (فيلد الانثربولوجية) إلى الشرق الأدنى هو دراسة الأوصاف البدنية والقسمات الوجهية لكرد شمال العراق. تقرر إختيار مجموعات من الأفراد من المنفرجات الجبلية الأربعة: (زاخو) متجانسون عنصرياً أي من عرقٍ واحد أم هم مزيج من أصول عرقية مختلفة، على ضوء السمات والقياسات البدنية"؟
تأتي أهمية هذا العمل كون مؤلفه اتبع الطريقة العلمية المتبعة في تقصي اصول الأجناس البشرية وهو ما يعرف (بالأنثربولبوجي) وكيفية القيام بهذا ميدانياً لا سيما في كردستان.
