لا مناص من الاعتراف بأن مشكلة "المنهج" هي المشكلة الأولى التي تواجه هذه الدراسة وصاحبها منذ أمد جد بعيد، وعلى وجه التحديد، حين بدأ يحضر للحصول على درجة الماجستير في موضوع "الحذف والتقدير في النحو العربي"، إذ كان اختيار هذا الموضوع- في جوهره- محاولة لاقتحام أصول النحو التقليدي من خلال دراسة أبرز خصائصه التطبيقية.
ثم فرضت مشكلة المنهج نفسها مرة أخرى في تحليل "مناهج البحث عند النحاة العرب" وهو موضوع الأطروحة التي تقدم بها للحصول على درجة الدكتوراه.
وها هي المشكلة مرة أخرى ما زالت حية وملحة في هذه الدراسة عن "الجملة الفعلية"؛ لأن دراسة الجملة الفعلية وإن كانت محاولة للنظر في الجزئيات النحوية فإنها لا بد أن تخضع بالضرورة لرؤية كلية تبرأ من الآراء الذاتية المعتمدة على الانطباعات الشخصية لتصدر عن نظرة منهجية. ومن ثم لم يكن من سبيل إلى الشروع فيها دون أن تتحدد سلفًا خصائص المنهج العلمي الذي يحتكم إليه في تناولها.
وهكذا يتأكد- مرة بعد مرة- من خلال التناول التطبيقي، ما تأكد من قبل من خلال البحث النظري، من ضرورة الالتزام بالأسس المنهجية لمنهج "التحليل اللغوي". في إطار منهج التحليل اللغوي إذن تتم هذه الدراسة من خلال الفصول التالية: مفهوم الجملة الفعلية، الفعل، المرفوع، المكملات.
